Understanding Isolation and Withdrawal Behaviours of Concern
This course explores isolation and social withdrawal through a person-centred, trauma-informed, and evidence-informed lens. Participants will learn to recognise the signs of withdrawal, understand the various functions it may serve, and identify factors that may contribute, including mental health, disability-related diagnoses, environmental influences, physical health concerns, and life experiences.
The training provides practical strategies for supporting individuals in ways that promote dignity, autonomy, emotional wellbeing, and meaningful connection. It also highlights common pitfalls to avoid and encourages practitioners to look beyond the behaviour to understand the underlying need.
Ideal for support workers, clinicians, leaders, and carers, this course aims to build confidence in responding compassionately and effectively to isolation and withdrawal while promoting positive quality of life outcomes.
